How do I care for my freshly cut flowers?

Top Tips:

  1. Use a freshly cleaned vase for your flowers so they can drink up clear water, keeping them happy and looking lovely. For the same reason, change the water as often as you can get to it (every day is ideal!).
  1. Keep your flower arrangement somewhere nice and cool, and out of direct sunlight.
  1. Snip out any spent flowers or foliage so you can continue to enjoy the whole posy !

Some extra tips for bonus points ! :

When you get your flowers home, un-wrap them and cut about a centimeter off the end of the stems. Use secateurs if you have them and make a clean cut without mashing the stems.

You can extend the life of your flowers even further by using a preservative.

There are commercial flower food products available, but you can also make your own flower preservative at home –

Simple homemade floral preservative recipe:

For every 500ml of vase water add

1 tsp sugar

¼ tsp bleach

½ tsp vinegar

We hope you enjoy your flowers!

Do you make wedding flowers?

Yes! We offer bridal party flowers, DIY bundles of flowers and foliage, and small table flowers. We work to your colour palette and style, using our in season garden grown blooms to create your designs. You can find all the details at our wedding flowers page here, and you are welcome to email Rosie – or call on 0411341981 to chat further about what we can offer you for your wedding day.

I'm a florist who focuses on buying seasonal flowers from local growers. Do you offer wholesale?

We love hearing that more and more florists care about sourcing flowers locally and ethically – thank you! At our small patch we don’t offer wholesale flowers generally. We do occasionally have flash sales of bulk stems at times when we have a flush of flowers at the patch – these will be announced through instagram generally so you are welcome to keep an eye out for those! For more wonderful local organically grown flowers check out ST Flowers in Lobethal.
